Death:OK (Let’s Talk About It) is a day of inspiration, information, and connection taking place October 17, 2015 on the campus of Reed College in Portland, Oregon. As part of an ongoing series profiling our presenters, we’re pleased to introduce you to…
Carrie Ahern, presenting “The Art of Burial.”
THE ART OF BURIAL is a fantasy burial workshop facilitated by choreographer Carrie Ahern. Each participant imagines their fantasy burial and has it enacted on them. It focuses attention around the taboo subject of death and invites connection and pleasure to communal ritual and our personal preferences. NO DANCE OR MOVEMENT EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED TO PARTICIPATE.
Limited to five participants per session.
Choreographer/Teacher Carrie Ahern is the facilitator of the participatory workshop, THE ART OF BURIAL. The artistic director and choreographer of non-profit dance company Present Pariah in NYC, she has facilitated six THE ART OF BURIAL workshops in NYC, one each in Oakland, Berkeley and Seattle. She is a hospice volunteer through Calvary Hospital, NYC.
