Collage for the Grieving Heart

Death:OK (Let’s Talk About It) is a day of inspiration, information, and connection taking place October 17, 2015 on the campus of Reed College in Portland, Oregon.  As part of an ongoing series profiling our presenters, we’re pleased to introduce you to…

Jennifer Wohl, LPC, presenting  “Collage for the Grieving Heart.”

searchThis is a hands-on session for anyone who has experienced the death of someone significant. Participants will create a heart-shaped collage to be used as a platform for lighting a tea light in commemoration of their loved one.  The session will begin with lighting a candle, reading a poem, and saying aloud the names of those who have passed. Instruction on creating the collage will be provided as well as guidance as people work. The session will end with participants gathering in a circle to light their candles and experience a moment of silence in honor of the deceased.

Jennifer Wohl is a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice in NE Portland. A major focus of her work is helping people with the grieving process, both in one-on-one counseling and in groups. Jennifer runs an 8-week group called the Art of Grief in which clients create intentional, compassionate space for their grief and connect with others who understand what they are going through. She has a background in hospice work and has been a grief counselor since 2008.
